Oh, really? I hope there isn't much on estuaries at our state competition. I just know where they are and their importance and stuff like that.bookworm2110 wrote:My state test had a lot on estuaries, and even had us identifying invasive estuarine species like crabs and fish. I don't think this was supposed to be on there, but we just took our best guesses, and that's what everyone else probably did, too.

Re: Water Quality B/C
Hey casey how was the state water quality test? Was there a lot of questions about estuaries on the test, and were there questions regarding invasive plants and where they are from. Thanks.

Re: Water Quality B/C
Looking for a good water quality test (Div. B) to give my students for practice. I've already used all the ones on the test exchange, does anyone have one they could share? I have a bunch of tests I could trade if your interested.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Water Quality B/C
There were actually a couple of estuary questions... One on the percentage of saltwater, and one was a map of something (basically, a world map with the American coasts and European Atlantic coast having a lot of blue marks) where the correct answer was locations of estuaries. There weren't that many macroinvertebrate questions, which is probably why we didn't do as well. We like ID. xDBlwrunner wrote:Hey casey how was the state water quality test? Re: Water Quality B/C
Hi guys,
What are the topics for Water Quality? I made some really good notes this year, and I want to see if SOME of it will work next year (if they're related).
2012 and 2013: Freshwater/Estuaries
What is 2014's topic?
And will the ecology (part 1) change drastically, or the part 3?

Thanks Casey. Hopefully our test will have a lot of macroinvertebrates and not many estuary questions. Our states is in one week and 2 days.

The estuary questions are very simple. Just for review though, look this over: http://www.soinc.org/sites/default/file ... COLOGY.docBlwrunner wrote:Thanks Casey. Hopefully our test will have a lot of macroinvertebrates and not many estuary questions. Our states is in one week and 2 days.
It's very useful, because I'm sure there were be at least one question on the different kinds of estuaries (salt-wedge, fjord, etc.) and estuarine habitats (salt marshes, mud/sand flats, etc.). There were about one of each on my test.

Re: Water Quality B/C
Well I better start cramming information about estuaries then! I got first at regionals, but I'm really scared that Strath Haven will beat us since they most likely hack. How did your salinometer work? That's probably our weakest area, our salinometer is inconsistent.

Nah, you don't have to. And what do you mean, "hack"? Anyways, the salinometer... I don't know if it worked or not. >.> Probably not, though. xDBlwrunner wrote:Well I better start cramming information about estuaries then! Re: Water Quality B/C
Well you see Strath Haven is really good at science olympiad, and I think they "hack" because it is insane at how good they are! (I'm only kidding, I respect Strath Haven for putting so much effort into SO this year) Anyways how much do you think I should know about sewage treatment? I already know the basic knowledge, but I was just wondering if I should learn more about it.
