Re: Forestry ID
There pretty much isn't one, my understanding is that there is some debate as to whether one is a subspecies of the other. Though to quote Sibley "on average Black has larger leaves with paler underleaf"

Re: Forestry ID
This really doesn't have to be revived because there's nothing to practice for. .-. Just saying.

Re: Forestry ID
Aesculus glabra (since there's really no big need to hide it) and we should start for Entomology, perhaps, by posting pictures of simple (easy to identify) insects, and once the list gets out we can get more specific.
Life List: 373 (last Common Redpoll, Lorain Impoundment, Lorain County, OH)

Re: Forestry ID
Agreed. I'm relatively new to these forums, and I don't see any way to post a new thread on this board, so I'll just post the first insect here. This should be fairly easy (common name or genus is fine, extra kudos to whoever can get the full species name) :zerasaw wrote:Aesculus glabra (since there's really no big need to hide it) and we should start for Entomology, perhaps, by posting pictures of simple (easy to identify) insects, and once the list gets out we can get more specific.
