I'm pretty sure the North California proctor is the same every year...she was the fossils proctor too. She gives plenty of time.

I'm not sure about Nats, but yeah, like Paleo said, Norcal state competitors had plenty of time at each station.
i know that i should be in bed
and its almost 3 am
but when i close my eyes i can only see miles of headlights
fleshing out the distance

I have no idea. I have not been around long enough to go to more than one National competition with rocks.

I don't think so. Also, this should probably go in the Rocks discussion, not the marathon, in the future :)
