Ongoing Contest(Scores)

Post by iwonder »

Just to not clutter up the other topic, lets post the mass and mass held of booms that get tested over here, kinda like a little contest that we could keep going on through the season, maybe everyone can get an idea of what to expect score wise since this event hasn't been done in a while. Plus it'll be fun :D (I know we have a score tracker, but I've never seen it used much...)

I'll be testing some this weekend(hopefully) and will post up what I get later. Good luck!

Do you by chance know the rules for the boomilever this year? I'm just wondering about the basics like the dimensions, prohibited materials, etc. If I were to wait for the rules from my coach I'd get them in like 1 and a half months...

Not yet, right now I'm building to a 40cm x 15cm boom dimension and the standard loading block/weight procedure, I'm also using a 1/4-20 hex head bolt without a washer. 1.5 months to get the rules! I'd die...

I suppose I should post the horrid result here... There's an account of the failure in the other topic, anyways, it weight 11.14g and held 4.17kg. :o

Well, I built a 7.8g boomlever, but I haven't tested it yet. Looks pretty stable, but the test tells all.

To make you all feel better about your scores, here's my first boom of the year:

Mass: 5.97 g
Mass held: 120 g

Efficiency: 26.80 :P
(Broke when I put the bucket on, so I recorded the mass of the loading block)

Second boom:

Mass: 6.62 g
Mass held: 1.77 kg

Efficiency: 267.37

Still need a lot of improvement, but it's early in the season, so...
