Third class lever
Hello there! My coach submitted a rules clarification but in general, what do you guys think of the word...LIFT in the rules? Does the object have to be in contact with the 3rd class lever the whole time? Please share your thoughts and thanks!

Re: Third class lever
Actually, it's very different: It has to lift, meaning the object you move (not the lever) has to move up 15 cm (probably can move in an angle, but has to move a vertical distance of 15cm) and that the object must not be touching it at anytime except when the lever is in motion. Remember: CANNOT touch the object before the box has been started and after the object has been moved.

Re: Third class lever
Assuming the lever is not touching the object, but say a rod is stick is the one 'lifting' the object. My question is, does the rod have to be in contact with the object the whole way until it comes into a complete stop?

inluvwith_WANTED. Shouldn't you be studying?! The question really is... Its clear the lever cannot touch the object before or after the task, but while the lever is actually "lifting" the object, does it have to be in contact with the object the whole time until the object is lifted 15cm, or can the lever hit it, and send it upwards while not in contact?

Re: Third class lever
Can the lever be a baseball bat like object, which is a 3rd class lever, and hit a pop fly with the object.

Yay!! Thank you for clarifying that. I didn't really know how to express it correctly....
