My bookmark was always outreach science (which is updated) and not the outdated outreach SciOly. All the new dates are on there.

What a coincidence... We(CyFalls) got a new website also :D it's not quite done or ready yet, but http://www.cyfallsso.com is where it'll be... do they not have the events posted yet?

Oh, does anyone have more definite info on why invites we have for C div? I know of CyFalls and Greenhill, I heard something about Pflugerville, anyone know more?

Sorry for the double... Does anyone know when the state normally releases trial event rules?

They've added two more invitationals to the website.

Harmony for both B and C, on Jan 12
Langham Creek for only C, on Jan 19

... I feel like that's the only question that's been asked recently...

Anyways, we're working on it, so just be patient and bear with us :)

My friend (who is in Science Olympiad) is kinda sorta moving to Texas and wanting to start an SO team at his school, and I promised I'd do some research for him. But some questions can't be answered by just browsing the Internet.
FOR EXAMPLE:
How stiff is the competition in Texas?
How impossible would it be for a first year team to win State?
And any other things you can tell me about SO in Texas.

Physics is difficult for 99% of the world's population because they don't understand it. The other 1% know too much.

I would say that it would be very much improbable for a team to win in the first year, from my experience the competition is very stiff. Of course, in their second year of competition seven lakes placed 2nd at states(which qualifies for nats)

Are you looking more for info on B or C? Either way, the competition in Texas is very difficult. Considering there are both B and C teams that have placed in the top ten at Nats as well many teams that would be competitive at Nats that don't make it. I wouldn't expect to do well as a new team in the first year, but if they put the work in they can certainly be up there in their second or third year. Though making it to State is definitely not that difficult, as long as you don't go to the same regional as the best teams.

speaking of regionals... Who's going where? Cy-Falls is going to the dallas regional up at the community college(we went there 2 years ago)...

Oh, and regarding the invite schedule. We'll post the schedule once there's a proctor for every event, so get those registration forms in! :D

You're coming to the Dallas regional? :?

Our chances of making it to state for the first time (at the high school level) have just shrunk. :D
