Unofficial Rankings, Division B

Post by mrburrito »

I have done research from the previous year's results, and this year's invitational tournament results, and I've decided to rank the top ten teams in the country so far this year. I know this list may be inaccurate, but it isn't intentionally, if at all, biased, and just reflects the results and success of teams. Please give feedback on this list, and let me know if you have official tournament results or opinions about who should and shouldn't be ranked.

1st. Solon
2nd. Magsig
3rd. Shady Side
4th. Booth
5th. Marie Murphie
6th. Daniel Wright
7th. Beckondorff
8th. Chardon
9th. Bearden
10th. Meads Mill
I bet you had to read this twice

Okay. I'm extremely biased, but a few teams may fit here: Eagle Hill, Strath Haven, and Paul J. Gelinas are strong. I don't know if they're/we're top ten, but there are so many teams that you can't really rank the top overall. There are so many variables in competition (read: scoring errors and the like) that it's almost impossible to base an accurate "list" like this strictly on tournament results.

Except for Solon, I agree they dominate in both Divisions.

I am not commenting on the ranking itself seeing as how National top ten rankings are beyond my level of competition, but I wanted to point out it's Marie Murphy.

Well, and, at the above, you cannot factor in alleged scoring 'errors' when making something like this. Whatever is in the scoring system (post-arbitration if applicable) are the rankings. It doesn't matter if Skink JHS coulda woulda shoulda been ranked higher at the tournament but were slighted by the supervisors. The supervisors were right.

As a diehard west coast patriot, I must point out that you missed Muscatel and Churchill.

Yeah, Churchill definitely belongs on the list in my opinion. They got fourth at Nats last year, which is a notable accomplishment.

Muscatel also did well, placing tenth at Nats.

Okay, so it looks like I should place Church Hill in here, and maybe Muscatel, who should be removed though?

Bearden really shouldn't be there, they haven't gone to Nats in 2 years, and generally place in the 20s.

Also, Mead's Mill doesn't really have a history (as opposed to say Solon/Booth), as this was the first time they qualified for Nats. But I'm a little aprehensive to take them off the list, considering Michigan teams always perform well at Nats.
