Future Tournament Sites

Post by kentuckyfan1001 »

If there was any university the Science Olympiad national tournament could be held at, where would choose and why?

And also, as a side question, of the previous tournaments you have been to, which was was the best run and why?

I think UC Berkeley would be a pretty neat site to have it at.

And, unfortunately I have never been to a past national tournament.

I was, literally, thinking UC Berkeley too. But (to retain originality) I was thinking UCLA too. Or back at Wisconsin.

The next unannounced year is going to be my Senior year. So somewhere awesome would be nice, but I've only been to Florida, so I don't have much Nats experence.

This is a fun question... IMO, Wisconsin and UCF were really close (both had beautiful campuses), but I'd give a slight, slight edge to Wisconsin (the opening ceremony at Wisconsin was by far the funnest).

Obviously to have nationals in Hawaii would be the best, but realistically maybe a school out west such as Stanford or UCLA/USC...

During the awards ceremony at state today, I found out that the 2016 nats will supposedly be held at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Most probably have no idea where that is - it's in the northern part of the state, basically in the middle of nowhere.
It's a decent place for states, but I don't know if it's large enough to host nats. Most of the events are hosted in one building, which is convenient.

Minneapolis isn't that far from Menominne (Least, I think thats where UW-Stout is.), but it seems like a strange place to hold Nationals...... I highly doubt it's going to be there, but I don't care. I was thinking that it would be cool if it was in New York though. Thats all my ideas.... :)

Although I'm probably never going to make it to Nats, I think that the location should be in the middle of the U.S. so some teams will have the opportunity to drive if they so choose. I don't know. .-. Wisconsin seems like a neutral area. But California... That's pushing it.

They had it in Florida. Think about poor California/Washington/Oregon/all those other states.
