31 sec w/ bonuses; good enough to win by 7-8 sec. Actually got a better time at Regionals (38 sec). Team had 2 different sizes of parachute; smaller about 0.8 m diameter, larger about 1m . Approach was first launch w/ the smaller (which is more reliable than the big one in deployment)- if it deploys, go for it with the bigger chute on the second shot. At Regionals, it worked that way, and the big chute deployed on the second shot. At State, first shot was a lawn dart, so small chute on the second shot, which did deploy....

can we launch the same rocket twice, or do we have to have two separate rockets?

We can only launch each rocket once. I tried using the same parachute at states, but they didn't let us do that either. To be safe, I would just have two completely separate rockets that don't share any parts.

lol.......since the egg moves down when you launch just try putting more padding towards the bottom of the egg, and yes i just pack cotton tighty around the egg
Sure enough. Pack those cotton balls in tight enough and the egg survives almost anything. Thanks.

i saw the event at ohio states. solon won with a 90+ second launch. they also had a rocket that had the parachute stuck on the street lights. wow, too bad they wont be at nationals to provide fierce competition in this event
