Not really. They're not going to twist and bow all over creation like the tension pieces. I might use a few horizontal pieces or something for stability, but you don't need much.

Hi, I'm completely new to Science Olympiad and building things... especially elevated bridges. I've already downloaded everything needed for Elevated Bridge, but I have absolutely no idea how to start and what type of design is needed/suitable. Could anyone help a girl out?

Ok first of all, you should read through this thread. That will answer most of your questions and should give you an idea of how to build a bridge.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! Just tested my bridge not so long ago at after school practice. Weighed 13.52 and scored an effifcency of 399!!!! almost 400 ALMOST!!! ONE MORE!!! but anyways... I thought that was pretty good!! I should have tooken pictures. But didn't have a camera. Held 5.4 kilos :) So for all you testing on Janurary 10. Tell me how your bridge does and what its efficency was :) Maybe we could compare and give suggestions on why each one broke.

My first bridge had an efficiency around 340. I'll be testing my second on January 12. I'll let you know how it does.
