Do you guys anticipate any major changes to the list or the rules next year?

I don't think they'll change up the rules, they were pretty good. As for the list, I hope they add a few more families. Maybe more beetles or add families to the order only groups (like megaloptera)

I agree; the list and rules were both pretty good. The only change I could possibly anticipate for the rules is being allowed a binder, but I seriously doubt that would happen. There are already a few events that allow a binder, and I don't know that a field guide + a binder is necessary for ento. (Correct me if I'm wrong  )

They also might change some of the Ametabolous orders (the ones that have been declassified as insets due to internal mouthparts...)

Maybe a few sheets of notes for the binder then? Cause the field guide really has ALMOST everything

What field guides worked well in the 2014 season?
What is everyone planning to use for the 2015 season?

Last year, I used the Audubon and really liked it. It had the "correct" (according to the list) taxonomic scheme, and all the families on the list. The only thing that I found to be annoying was that the picures were arranged using appearance, not by order or family.
Because of this, I didn't really use my field guide for ID (in my opinion, you shouldn't anyway, but everyone has a different system), just used my notes for ID and found facts in the guide. If I was really unsure on ID, I used the plate numbers next to each family on my notes and opened to the picture section and find a match, but I rarely had to do that.

I used the NWF guide and I still think I will for the upcoming season because it's organized by order and family, the pictures are actually next to the descriptions and info, and also it's a lot easier to tab. Not to mention it has anatomy diagrams and I think a larger glossary? The only downside is some of the order names are different and I think a couple of the families are different too. If you want a more detailed description on the differences between the NWF and the official list, as well as some tips on how to tab it, feel free to PM me. :D
