The only thing I can think of is a stigma, but that doesn't make sense because of the "an" in the question. It may have been a typo, but someone would have probably pointed it out if that was the case. I wouldn't have expected that from a nationals comp anyway. It pretty weird that they asked that...

From what my partner told me, the list and overall rules will be almost identical to this year's...maybe with a few new additions (hopefully they get rid of Dactylopiidae...it's just so weird ).

Due to the easy nature of this test, I think missing one question could have made a team drop 5-10 places in ranking. When my partner and I first saw the test, we knew that we could not afford to miss a single question. Missing "a few" questions on this nationals entomology test was especially dangerous since I think that all of the scores were quite close, differing by only a few points. I'm guessing that the range of scores for this test was really close together, so the top 6 for entomology probably missed less than 2 or 3. It was actually hard to miss a question on the test, since correct identification would immediately lead to correct answers for the following questions. The questions that separated teams were probably the anatomy, the vectors (I don't know if this was in the book. I think it was, but I had it on my cheat sheet so we didn't consult the field guide), and the vocabulary.

We got 4th and definitely missed a minimum of 3, possibly more like 4 or 5. Two of those were anatomy

I agree! I thought the entomology test would be a lot more brutal (like the forestry one last year). The only question my partner and I missed was the Isoptera one (an??) and we were first, so it was probably really close.

I would have loved to see the C div test. The B division had a few questions that totally stumped us, but fortunately had some critical thinking questions.

So what did you guys think of the Nats test?

Honestly the biggest problem with the test was the fact that there were so few hard questions, and those were the questions that were fairly ambiguous and everyone probably missed them (especially the one asking what termites lacked lol), so the only way you could have really missed questions was through individual mistakes.
