It's a brand new event this year, thus there isn't likely to be any practice tests yet. Why don't you take a stab at making one yourself and sharing with everyone via the test exchange?

In the Compound Machines Event, can the fulcrum points of the two levers and the connection point between the two levers be changed while measuring of the unknown mass?

I believe that section 4.b.v.of the rules says you are allowed.


The rules say that all reference materials must be in a 3-ring binder. Does this mean just one 3-ring binder, or just that all notes must be in some 3-ring binder? e.g. a team has a binder for part 1 and another for part 2.
The reason I ask is that I've seen the use of explicitly 1 binder for other events, while this seems more ambiguous.

For compound machines, the device is a class 1 lever with the 'load' attached to the 'effort' of a class 2 lever. Wikipedia has a good overview of the various types of levers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lever
