Just throw information on there. If it needs cleaning up people will do that, but what it needs most is content.

We can fix that. Send me a PM tomorrow night or Monday and we can start working on it together.

Double post, but this is important:http://www.nasa.gov/press/2014/april/na ... z30Qcc1zkV

I'll just say that if I was writing any more tests this year (which I'm not) I'd definitely include a section on this.

Since the topic for Solar System this year changed from the old Solar System (if I remembered correctly), anyone want to guess what next year's topic/focus might be on? I think (this is my opinion) it probably won't be extraterrestrial water/ice...which was pretty interesting to learn about this year, and I'll actually be sort of sad if it goes away.

I believe (and hope) that the topic is staying the same. UTIG/Dr. Schroeder said the following:
This year the Earth and Space Science Committee for the National Science Olympiad has created a planetary science event, which focuses on the observation and understanding of features and processes relating to extraterrestrial ice and water in the solar system. The event – referred to simply as “Solar System” in official Science Olympiad rules, competitions, and resources – will run for two competition seasons (2013–2014 and 2014–2015) as an event for 6th through 9th grade students. The event is sponsored by the University of Texas Institute for Geophysics.
I can't say as to whether this means that the event will go on for two year with different topics, or it will be the same event and topic. This can be interpreted in a couple of different ways.

The reason I hope the topic stays the same is because I got third at nationals in this event and have really grown to like it although I didn't in the beginning of the year XD. If the topic does change, I'd guess the following:

-Rings and satellites
-Characteristics of habitable planets (including extrasolar systems)
-Physics of planetary orbits and maybe a greater emphasis on the math portion

However, I don't know if solar system normally has topics like it did this year; maybe it's usually just a general solar system test. Just my thoughts. Regardles of the topic, good luck next year to all of the competitors.

Haha same.
slytherin wrote:So, I've never done this event before, and I am REALLY confused as to what I'm supposed to do, I used the Wiki but I still don't really know what to do. Could somebody please post a website or help me out a bit?
Read the rules, remember everything, make really good note sheets, and always use Google.
