-The path of the Administrator is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.

-Nothing\'s gonna get deleted. We\'re gonna be like three little Fonzies here. And what\'s Fonzie like? Come on, what\'s Fonzie like?
-Cool?
-Correctamundo. And that\'s what we\'re gonna be. We\'re gonna be cool. Now, I\'m gonna count to three, and when I count three, you let go of your mouse, and back away from the keyboard. But when you do it, you do it cool. Ready? One... two... three.

Gonna miss Mission Possible this year but this event looks like so much fun. I'm looking forward to this event and the discussion in the next few months!

Same here! I participate in another program (not Science Olympiad) called FLL, which stands for First Lego League. So you basically build robots and make them complete certain missions, so I think this will be pretty similar to that. :D Sounds good...

Approved radio frequency ranges

Post by PHXcoach »

Will 2.4 GHz Spread Spectrum radios be allowed ? They are covered in FCC CFR 47 part 15.247 from 2.4 GHz to 2.4835 GHz, and this band is listed on the AMA site for Model Aircraft and Surface Model use (http://www.modelaircraft.org/events/frequencies.aspx)

Not the place for official answers, etc...

We moved the frequency rules from the written rules to the website because they are common across all events using radio control. Not sure it is up yet, but it should be shortly. Basic principle, we mean to allow all legal ground control frequencies and I think that includes that band. BUT, check the NSO website for official answer.

As Jeff already mentioned anything stated on this forum should not be considered an official ruling. With that said - 2.4 Ghz radios were allowed when this event ran in 2009. It would be a good bet that would be the case now since 2.4 seems to be the industry standard now in surface RC vehicles. The question now is Bluetooth  I'll wait for the official rules to post on that one.

Seems like Bluetooth was allowed last time this was an event ... Foggy memory here and I don't have my rules handy.

Bluetooth is 2.4 GHz, so if they allow 2.4 GHz, they have to allow Bluetooth.
