There was a PDF that used to be posted on the event page of soinc.org, it doesn't seem to be there now, but it not only described the applicator in question, but talked about curing times for CA, and gap lengths and strength of bonds. Very good resource actually, I was surprised it's not up there. If I recall correctly jander14indoor wrote it actually?

Just built a boomilever that scored 1000 points without breaking. Probably can go up to 1500, but it's our competition boomilever.

Congrats! Just make sure there are no interanl breakages or splitting of the wood.

What type of glue works best?

I use CA for everything, but some people use gorilla glue when you need a lot of strength with a little area (like some distal end connections).

It's just a typo. Also, there's a page calls Aia's Boomilvere guide that has a section on glue as well.

For tube booms, I always see a plug thing in the top of the tube near the loading block. What is the purpose of that, and if it is necessary, how can I make one? Thanks.

Typically balsa dowel is used I believe. Specialized sells them. It's used because without it the stress concentration on the tube would be too high, since the tension member would only have two small contact points on top and bottom of the tube. This spreads it out to put the load in the entire tube.
