Re: Wheeled Vehicle B
Does anyone know what a good run time and score would be?

Re: Wheeled Vehicle B
My personal best is -3. I'm assuming that would get a medal. Run time of 3.5 seconds.HELLOIMREECE wrote:Does anyone know what a good run time and score would be?

Re: Wheeled Vehicle B
my best is about -13 but thats because my wheeled is very fast... Does anyone really use carbon fiber fishing poles? that doesn't sound like the best idea. But i might not be understanding this idea correctly.

Lots of cars at regionals were illegal, but all were run. Frustrated at the fact that these wonderful things called RULES were not followed...

LiteFlight nontreaded tire 4", you can drill the hub out to whatever size you want: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wt ... LXB913&P=7
I have them and with balloons over them for traction they work great. About an inch wide, and just smaller than a CD.

Re: Wheeled Vehicle B
Actually, at an invitational this year, we had something extending in front of our dowel to hold it in place and the supervisor said that, although it says that you may not have something in front of the dowel in the rules, there was revision somewhere online that said you could have something in front of it holding the dowel in place. I'm not sure if all of the instructors have seen that, though.goodcheer wrote:Could someone comment on the rule about the dowel rod being the foremost part of the vehicle? Does that mean that whatever secures the dowel rod to the vehicle must stay behind the dowel rod? For example, a piece of wire wrapped around the dowel to hold it in place could not be used because part of the wire would be in front of the dowel? Also, it looks like the rules require the students to bring the dowel rod, so, ok they should be able to build it into their vehicle and not just place it in a "holder" like mousetrap vehicle. But that might make it clumsy to transport. Just thinking out loud, but this looks like a unique challenge. Any comments would be appreciated.

"2013-12-19 15:38 Can the attachment of the dowel to the vehicle encircle the dowel? Technically, the dowel itself would not then be the "Foremost part of the vehicle", the attachment mechanism would be.
The vehicle may have a device to attach the dowel to the vehicle and permit the removal of the dowel for transportation and/or any necessary adjustment. This device must not extend more than 2 cm from the front of the dowel and would then become the foremost part of the vehicle. This attachment device must serve no purpose other than to attach and hold the dowel on the vehicle."
