I used these websites to come to my conclution:

http://adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2002ApJ...570..671M

http://www.cfa.harvard.edu/~reid/sgra.html

http://archive.ncsa.uiuc.edu/Cyberia/Bima/GalCntr.html (thanks rsfcoach)

but i STILL don't know what sgr* is. I guess it doesn't matter though, I don't really think its on the sheet. Maybe it doesn't exist.

Does any know where I can find good pictures (for identification) of the trapezium nebula :?: :?:
while identifying, how do you not confuse it w/ the Orion nebula???? They look the same to me....

Well Trapezium is the four hot, young stars inside the Orion nebula.

When were studying evolution, how much do we have to know about variable stars??

Do we have to know about the big bang, evolution of the universe??

For states, basically, standard star evolution: main sequence, red dwarf, and blue giant.

I messed up so bad for regionals. We were in a planetarium and we had the lights shut off. My eyes couldn't adjust fast enough for some reason and had trouble seeing some constellations. Luckily the rest were mainly deep sky objects on powerpoint and that was easier for me to see. We also had questions about magnitude and stellar evolution. My greatest surprise was when we found we got 75% of the questions right and still got 2nd. That was similar to last year where we thought we wouldn't place and ended up 5th. Seems like other people didn't know about the other stuff.

Yeah last year we thought we wouldn't medal cause we thought "We're on the B team no way we beat Arden, our A team, and Arden B or Barrett and plus it was both me and my partners first time competeing." We got first so they called us last so since they hadn't called us we thought "oh well we probably were top 5" then they called us and we were surprised cause our A team hadn't even been called.

If you know all of the constellations, stars, and DSOs,then you're pretty much guaranteed to medal in the event.
