Hi everyone!
As most of you probably know, Solar System is gonna be a 2011-2012 event.
I don't think there was a forum for this event ...?
Anyway, I love Reach for the Stars, but I don't know much about Solar System.
I'm starting to study for next year, so any help would be much appreciated!!! :D

I know!!
I <3 stars!!! Good bye stars forever!!!

Anyway, I think that you could start to study the characteristics of the planets. Does anyone else know what to study??

Kepler laws, comets, the oort cloud, extrasolar planets, the sun, dwarf planets (Pluto, Ceres, Eris), moons (specifically our own, and others of interest, like Io or Europa)

anything that can be found within the bounds of the oort cloud

they are about the orbits of the planets, mainly that they are eliptical

for solar system you basically need to know almost everything about the objects within the oort cloud, and keep up to date on current space missions and other astronomical discoveries. you should also be familiar with the constellations, but they aren't as important as in reach for the stars, you more need to know where in the sky planets are located at the time of your competitions

A little bit more on that...

The first law is that planets' orbits are ellipses

The second is more complex. In short, a line connecting the planet and the Sun sweeps out equal areas in equal units of time. This basically refers to that planets move faster closer to the perihelion (closest point to the Sun) and slower closer to the aphelion (furthest point from the Sun).
