in dynamic planet at my regional competition, there was a station involving topo maps. road scholar being my favorite event, i did well at the station, but i have two questions
1. it asked me to find the slope of a mountain, it didnt give me two points, so i just did an average for a part of the mountain. is that right?
2. it asked me to find the lowest elevation on the map. is there any way to find it other than skimming the map and looking for the lowest point?



oh, and i thought that the magnetic declination was only exactly correct in the very center of the map

check the wiki for the first questions the equations are in the wiki

skimming is the only why i no how to find the lowest elevation

magnetic declination should be the same through out the map

Thanks for that one eyeball, now for the range (I looked at one of my practice tests which I didn't do, it had it also) Here's a range quiestion,
What is an office's PLSS section, town, and range.

Oh, sorry, I see what you mean. It would be something like NW 1/4 NW 1/4 15 T. 5 S R. 5 E

The R I'm pretty sure stands for range in the PLSS description.
