Yeah, that's right. The magnetic declination can be found here: Road Scholar Wiki

For Slope do you mean Slope Gradient? Slope Gradient is exactly what it sounds like- calculating the gradient of a slope on land. You can do this on a quadrangle by finding the change in elevation between two points and dividing it by the distance between two points. Then, multiply by 100. Remember though, to accurately find the elevation between the two points, you need to look at the Contour Interval.

A profile is basicly a graph showing the relationship between distance and elevation. This is what a topographic profile looks like: http://www.uwec.edu/geography/ivogeler/ ... rofile.jpg

This website has a fairly good description on how to profile: http://geology.isu.edu/geostac/Field_Ex ... ofiles.htm

Me and my partner dove into this event; we didn't know we were doing it until like 20 minutes before we realized Road Scholar needed substitutes.

I know, and miraculously, they got 2nd! And they weren't even subs, it was only because the girls doing it were too lazy to do it.

How much does one need to know about the Public Land Survey System?

Posted: March 29th, 2009, 7:58 am
not a whole lot about them itself, just the systems they created.
