Like I said I would but then my coach would eat my soul and there are plenty of sporty nerds at my school to take my place.

Exactly.

And even if a few regions boycotted it or something, do you think anyone else would notice?

Hardly.

I have to agree with that. If your coaches don't go along with it they'll just find someone to replace you. I know thats what mine would do.

Cartels don't work, but I appreciate the effort anyways. Seems like a pretty crappy event. Maybe if you got your coaches to talk to main people in your state who talk to people who go to that one national convention where they pick events, you could have some indirect effect on the choosing of the events next year. But I even doubt that...good luck anyways!

I think that coaches wouldn't risk getting DQ'd/risking to not go to states/nationals just because a bunch of kids thought the event was stupid. Personally, I would go ahead + get the points, no matter how stupid the event.

But someone could complain to soinc.org + petition that pentatholon isn't itellectually stimulating... or something like that... + ask if Pentatholon be discontinuated next year/in the future. :geek: :ugeek:

Yeah but that was back when SO was used as like a make science fun instead of compete against other people. If i was really annoyed with this event I would try to POLITELY contact the high person involved with SO you know.
SO stressed!

I think that there is about a 99% chance (or more) that this will go nowhere. I still want to at least try though. If nothing happens, oh well, it was just for fun or whatever.

Also, it's not like I told my coaches that I'm just not going to do Pentathlon. That's only if we can get everyone in the region to participate. If we can't (again, 99%), then I'll be in Pentathlon (because my coaches put me in it).
