I learned that, for a short time, the draft rules were accidently left in an unprotected area of the Directors page on the soinc.org website.
Since the rules are copyrighted, this was accidental and the rules have since been moved to the correct, protected area.

The final rules will be released in the Fall like normal.

And Yes, Pentathlon was included in the draft rules and Naked egg drop was not.
That doesn't mean that it (or any other part of the draft rules) won't change before the final rules are released in September

According to the tentative event list, pentathlon may be replaced by egg drop!
YAY!!!!
http://soinc.org/sites/default/files/up ... rt4-14.pdf

Since the event was running late at nats, we had to switch out 2 of the team members so that they could get to their next event, while the open slots on our pentathlon team were filled by whoever we could get a hold of.. we got around 55th.. :x :x
I wouldnt rejoice if I was you. If its naked egg drop, it could end up being even worse.
For naked egg drop, you have to build a device and drop your egg in it. But if miss your device, then youre ranked behind those who hit their target. And it was very difficult to even hit your target.
As I recall, though, you got to pick the height from which you dropped, so it was kind of your own fault if you missed.

And plus I think Naked Egg Drop would be worse, because opf all the loopholes they can have. Egg Drop (regular) wouldn't be as bad. The last one I think is the least of the three evils. Mystery Architecture (which Pentathlon replaced) is better than all of these, though, I think. :(

I agree completely.
Nerds rule. Nerds are awesome. Nerds will someday (soon) rule the world. And you know it.

2010. Be prepared. If not, you f(l)ail!
