Dynamic Planet

Post by Jim_R »

-The path of the Administrator is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.

-Nothing\'s gonna get deleted. We\'re gonna be like three little Fonzies here. And what\'s Fonzie like? Come on, what\'s Fonzie like?
-Cool?
-Correctamundo. And that\'s what we\'re gonna be. We\'re gonna be cool. Now, I\'m gonna count to three, and when I count three, you let go of your mouse, and back away from the keyboard. But when you do it, you do it cool. Ready? One... two... three.

yes, it is like oceanography, except this year it's on earthquakes and volcanoes instead of oceans. and it will prolly be as in depth as oceanography was.

dynamic planet actually rotates every two years

rivers -> glaciers -> oceanography -> earthquakes/volcanoes

you can get pretty in-depth with volcanoes. same goes for earthquakes. I would expect you to see diagrams like this on tests: Image

maybe you would identify parts of it, or they might ask you whats going on (such as if the plates are pulling apart or pushing together)

i've never actually competed in earthquakes/volcanoes because it was last an event before i was in SO (rivers was in when i started). maybe some SO alum know more about this event (when it was last an event)

i figure it will be similar to glaciers or oceans, the last time it was here was before i joined, but they usually cover whats mentioned in the rules, and have a good test over general knowledge with some diagrams and some more in depth questions, so it should be similar to dynamic planet the past few years

As far as i can tell, you can bring resources, including textbooks and binders. At least, you can if its anything like glaciers.

I believe that last year they only allowed a double sided piece of paper. I'm not quite sure though since I didnt do the oceans event. My coach asked me to make the cheat sheet for oceans last year. I'm probably going to do dynamic planet this year because way back in 7th grade we did a whole chapter on Earthquakes and Volcanoes and i was really good at it and thought it was really cool

it depends how they do it, because i know you could use binders both years for glaciers, and then a binder the first year and sheet of paper the second for oceanography
