so...probably not a graphing calculator. most of them are too easy to program info into (ie, formulas, etc).
dudeincolorado: yeah thats a pretty good way to differentiate. "if"-"then"-"because" on your hypothesis--it's the easiest way, but leave out the "because" if you know nothing about the topic and cant come up with a reason :)

I like the If-Then hypotheses but I find them a little too ....standard, plus I have issues writing up the rest of the experiment, I was taught how to do this event with the How-does hypothesis method oh in case you didn't know what the If-then hypothesis is then heres an example.

If the starting hight of the balloons increase, then the time it takes to fall will also increase.

can we get an example of the how-does hypothesis?

Ok heres one. How does changeling the color of the ball affect the distance it can roll? We believe that changing to color of the ball will not affect how it rolls.

It refers back to the statement of the problem almost word for word.

bizarre. the first part is more of the question statement, you know what I mean:

Question: how does the color of the ball affect how it rolls.
Hypothesis (how-does): we believe the color of the ball will not affect how it rolls.
Hypothesis (if-then): if we change the color of the ball, then there will be no difference in how it rolls.

you see what i mean?

Not necessarily bizarre. The dye used to color the rubber could alter the rubber's composition.

no i meant the hypothesis structure was bizarre because it seemed to contain the question in addition to proposing a potential outcome.
