Re: Experimental Design
No, we got 6th. I think the fact that they told us EXACTLY what to do hurt us, because it gave the teams that hadn't prepared well enough a better chance. I really wish that supervisors stopped doing that.

Re: Experimental Design
Even worse, sometimes if you try to be creative ( ) and try to make up your own experiment, they might take points off.

Re: Experimental Design
Well, if they already gave you instructions, you kinda have to know that you have to follow their experiment and not make up another one.

Re: Experimental Design
We got 12th, and we have no idea why we didn't do better than that (not to sound cocky or anything, but we've always been pretty darn good at this event).
The supervisor seemed a little... unsure of herself, I guess would be the most polite way to put it. We asked for graph paper and she said she couldn't give us any because it weighed too much to take on the plane... because there's no graph paper in Augusta?

thanks!eyeball138 wrote:That sounds pretty difficult. Congratulations on getting 2nd!
and getting twelfth is not that bad. at least you made it to the top 15. we got 27th in WIDI, and we were so excited. this year was probly our best at nats. we've only been for three years, (our first year was when i was a sixth grader) and last year we got the Spirit award, but this year we placed better overall.

Re: Experimental Design
Oh, I know, 12th isn't bad at all, but this was the one event we were definitely expecting a medal in. I would say it's my best event. We also thought we did really well, didn't leave anything out, etc. and were pretty surprised to hear our place (as was our coach).
