I really regret doing this event, it's so random! I had a question about George Washington Carver on my test. Did anyone come into this thinking it would be about hippie-like environmental protection?

No, but I remember going to take the test at states with my partner. We pretty much guessed on all the answers, and still got 6th! And he was wearing a tux, too. (He had something for marching band later that day.)

Well, yes I did, actually.
Every time there's an event or class (*cough APES*) pertaining to the environment, there's always questions designed not to test your knowledge, but just to remind you that polluting is bad. Take AP environmental and you'll agree with me.

And a question on Carver is to be expected, he did so much with agriculture. The other person they ask about a lot is Rachel Carson, author of Silent Spring.

There were three questions on porosity, and there was a lot of data interpretation. I believe the only labs that we actually did were the water retention and the titration. The rest was just interpretation of data that they gave you and general soil chemistry questions

yup. And all of that was too much, me and Artie( guy above me) didn't even answer 17 of the questions.
And about George Washington Carver, he made crop rotation popular. and made hundreds of uses for peanuts!

Next to Crave the Wave, this event has had the most surprises on tests this year. (for me)

I wasn't talking about CTW. Read the title of the thread. I said next to CTW, this event (environmental Chem.) has had the most surprises on tests this year. And CTW, I know the National test was similar, but on other tests (Invats. Regional, State) for me they have had surprises.

Wow, the nationals test had a lot of labs and a lot of questions. My partner and I were really good on the question part, and I think we did really well on that. Although I think we bombed one or two of the labs, we finished the test and came in 6th.

we got a pretty slow start, but we picked up the pace after about 5 minutes. Did anyone understand how to do the porosity part? We sort of guessed

No, if you actually had read it, they took out the part of enviro chem being the topic. The 1st version that they put out in mid April said that it would be the topic, but the revised edition (published 2 weeks ago) which karatekid posted took that piece out. So it looks like there will be no enviro chem at all, but we won't know until rules come out in September.
