Disease Detectives B/C

-The path of the Administrator is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men.

-Nothing\'s gonna get deleted. We\'re gonna be like three little Fonzies here. And what\'s Fonzie like? Come on, what\'s Fonzie like?
-Cool?
-Correctamundo. And that\'s what we\'re gonna be. We\'re gonna be cool. Now, I\'m gonna count to three, and when I count three, you let go of your mouse, and back away from the keyboard. But when you do it, you do it cool. Ready? One... two... three.

Ok.
Just saying, I haven't done Population Growth yet, so is there anything really important that i need to study that wasn't here last year?

Typically the concepts are the same, but scenarios will deal with Population Growth. Check under "Event Format" of the Disease Detectives Wiki for a list of areas that fall under Population Growth.

The CDC website at http://www.cdc.gov/excite is being remodeled. Some of the old national events have been misplace but we are looking for them and hope to get them back up ASAP. Please let me know what types of information/links you might find helpful and I'll try to get them up there as well. Good luck to all of you this year.

We are still working to get the old events up on our website but we have this little snag - Ebola - that is taking a lot of our resources, time and people. I suggest those of you who are just starting out - use the Principles of Epi as a starting place. The WHO also has a similar book that it is pretty good. Both are free and on-line. I will look for other resources and put them up as I find them. You Division C folks may want to check out EpiInfo. It is a free statistical software package developed by the CDC for use in health departments. We are going to be encouraging schools that have epi courses to use it and hope to work it into the Div C events. It is the main software used by our folks over in Africa right now. There are all sorts of tutorials, it is designed for use in epi and does all the analyses one would need for Div C competition and more.

Can someone explain how matching works to prevent confounding bias? I'm a little confused. Thanks!
