Re: Fossils B/C
I don't know about Div B but you should know how the ilium, ischium, and pubis are oriented.

Oh also, nautiloids have sutures but there's only one pattern. Ammonoids have the 3 major suture patterns-Goniatitic, Ceratitic, and Ammonitic

Re: Fossils B/C
Yes, it's supposed to only be for Div C, but (as it is with most study events) it's good to know more than you're "expected" to.JoJoKeKe wrote:I thought the Nautiloid Suture Lines was only for Division C? What else would they want you to know about them???
I know the Calyx on the Crinoid and that jazz... but I guess that's all I know about them... (Aren't they Filter feeders, too?)

Re: Fossils B/C
It's not really that I'm not memorizing, just that memorization for me is a byproduct of resource-building. I think I've memorized enough to do well on the faster tests (well, as fast as I know of; which I suppose must be fast enough for Nationals since our coach has gotten the school medals at Nationals twice in this event).varunscs11 wrote:Come the end of the year I have a lot memorized which is good for fast testsUnome wrote:Looks like I'm the only one not memorizing stuff.coprolite_dipstick wrote: Honestly... Re: Fossils B/C
^ The same is true for me too, Unome. And, if I don't know something off the top of my head, I almost always know if I have it in my notes or not.
For those of you who have done Fossils (or Rocks and Minerals for that matter...) at Nationals, what are some areas you think they'll specifically go over? I'm going to try to be ready for anything, but it would be nice to know some focal points that might come up on the test.
Thanks!

Re: Fossils B/C
I'm thinking about doing this event next year in Division C. Based on what you've seen in the past, how much is the current fossil list going to change? What details should you include about each genus? Thanks ahead of time to anyone who answers.

Re: Fossils B/C
As far as I know, the Official Fossil List does not change within a 3 year period, but only after alternating with Rocks and Minerals. So, I'm to assume it will be the same next year.Post by daydreamer0023 » Tue May 12, 2015 2:06 am

Where the genus is concerned, I feel like I'm under prepared. Find as much information as you can would be my only suggestion!
