Is there anything else really important I should add to my binder? I know we can add anything we need but I want to make sure I get the key items.

It's hard to say without knowing to what the bolded refers. I mean, if you can march through the topics in section 3. of the rules (yes, all of them), then you're probably golden. The catch is that you probably don't have everything. Specifically, I'm thinking UTM and highway factoids.

Oh sorry, the second one meant highway map info, but does not include factoids like you suggested. I will make sure to add that. As for topographic info, I just have information such as symbols and stuff we may need to know. Thanks for the help

There shouldn't be. Map reading is the entire point of Road Scholar, after all.

That said, our regionals test only had one map, which was scanned onto the second page of the test. From what I've heard (and what I saw at States), normally there are supposed to be multiple maps that are separate from the test.

I have some questions here...

What is the usual format for slope/stream gradient? I thought it was ft/thousand ft for stream gradient and maybe ft/100 ft for slope, but I've seen it in percentage too so it's confusing. The tests usually don't specify this stuff...
What slope/stream gradient is considered steep?(where's the threshold)
How do you know what UTM zone the map is in?
When stating the elevation at the top of a hill for example, do you report the highest contour line (like 50 ft) or the highest possible height ( like 59 for contour interval of 10 ft)?
Has anyone ever had to connect elevation data points with contour lines on a test?
