If you're still working on it, I'd say you can do really well by getting close to the terminal barrier, even if another team's time is a second below yours. I could have a really fast ETV, but if it skids and turns or doesn't go towards the center, it is easy to be off by 10 centimeters, the equivalent of 1 second of time.
