This matches my interpretation of this year's rules, but I feel that the obstacle is too small and only inhibits ETVs that curve left.I don't believe that is a correct interpretation of the rules. They merely mention an obstacle that could potentially get in the way but one that a very straight-running (and fairly narrow) car should have no problem passing straight by.
I assume this was done to encourage accuracy in the design. Last year, at least at regionals, it appeared that ninety percent of the efforts were put into the braking mechanism and far less in the precision of the wheels and axles. I may be wrong though.
