Yep pretty much. We're allowed to enter as many teams as we want but only one of those are the official team that gets to compete to go to nationals. The other ones compete in a alternate division where they compete in the same 23 events only they compete against other alternate teams. The alternate division is way easier than the regular division though because most of them dont practice as much as the regulars and some teams dont enter an alternate team. For exmaple, I'm on the regular team for Reach For the Stars and at state, i got 55/57 and got second place. My brother was on the alternate team for reach for the stars and he also got second place but his score was 36.5/57. I really like the way MA handles additional teams. I know there was arguments regarding this on the NorCal thread. If that doesnt make sense, perhaps the Schedule and Newsletter on the MA website could clarify it.

It made sense. That's an interesting idea. Instead of having one team submit like 3 teams then having all 3 do really well, the other teams just compete in a different league.

Yeah, especially if we could get that all the way to nats and have a national alternate competition! But that would be too easy...

Well, there is a "National Invitational" (at least some years) where teams that have NOT been to Nationals in the past two years can go and compete.
