Our school has a marching band competition around the time that States happen, too, and somehow, EVERY SINGLE YEAR, the marching band trip occurs ON THE SAME DAY!

That pretty much guts our states team.

marching band has a competition that late, thats odd, where i am, band ends with football season

its too cold here now to march and it stays like this till about march

They don't march in PA. This year states are so late, (May 1st) that it would be okay if they marched up here. But it's somewhere in a southern city. We don't actually have a conflict this year but we did have a few people not come to states last year because of the band thing.

Last year:
12/7/07 - Coolidge Invitational - this happened to be the day that the 8th graders took the placement test for their private schools. Pretty much everyone applied to a private school so almost all of our 8th graders and thus most of our team missed that invitational.
1/12/08 - Oak Invitational - This was the day for audition for Junior Districts. I think that's some kind of music thing. We lost a few people due to that.
3/15/08 - State Competition - This was the day for the Junior Districts competition. I believe we lost 2 really smart members for that.

This year i know that the placement test for private schools is on December 13th which happens to be the date of the Coolidge invitational this year

Wow, that's really unlucky Pleiades. I think last year was the only time ever that it had happened at my school, I had no idea we were so fortunate!

Same here. I skipped band trip last year to go to states.

Granted, I skipped the national invitational (at GW) for the SATs, but that's another story.

How's it coming so far. There's only 83 days (I think) until SE regionals so it's down to the wire.
