I doubt this is right...
A balanced influx of calcium and outflow of potassium causes the plateau phase.

Yes that's correct! I would also add that it prolongs the action potential duration within the cardiac muscle. Your turn.

What are the 2 functions of osteocytes?

Easy!
1) Maintain healthy bones (secreting enzymes and control bone mineral content)
2) Control calcium released to the blood from bone tissue
