Next question: why are environmental scientists particularly concerned about the presence of aerosols in the troposphere today? (There may be multiple answers, so feel free to take a guess!)

The troposphere is where clouds and other weather phenomena form. As aerosols increase in the troposphere, act as condensation nuclei meaning that water and the aerosol form a solution. When the solution precipitates out, the aerosol is deposited and since aerosols can sometimes be toxic, they are harmful to life. Also they can cloud out the sun leading to a cooling of the earth. Some aerosols can act as a greenhouse gas as well leading to climatic catastrophe (much like the cooling and warming during/after the K-T Extinction Event)

Thanks! Um let's see....What is the main cause of currents?

Most surface currents are caused by the wind; this can include input from the Coriolis force, general wind patterns, and also landforms above sea level and on the sea floor. Deepwater currents are formed when surface winds drive currents along with upwelling and landforms.
Also, another current source: density changes caused by differences in salinity and/or temperature. This is what drives most upwelling currents in the sea, caused by convection (driven by geothermal heat from the Earth's core).

Yes. Surface currents are primarily caused by wind and Coriolis but in general most currents are caused by density differences

Next question: Why is an ozone hole much more likely to form over the South vs. the North pole? (I promise I'll stop posting so many atmospheric questions soon)

Due to the grasshopper effect but also due to the Polar Vortex, air is moved from continents to the South Pole thus moving air with Chlorinated Compounds.

Mostly correct :) From what I've read, the polar vortex is more of the direct reason for why the ozone hole forms over the South vs. North Pole (more PSC's, more surface for reactions, etc), but still a good response. Your turn!

1) How did news of Chernobyl reach the world?
2) Propose a plan regarding the clean-up of nuclear facilities.
3) Where is a majority of the US' nuclear waste stored?
