Same; I've almost never felt that an awards ceremony was too long (last year's state was the exception, but that was intentionally drawn out by well over half an hour).
Last year's state awards XD...

Also, I did not hear about how they split up the awards. When I went, I was okay with sitting through C Division awards, but I guess capacity restrictions come first.

For the fun of it, I just read through the opening and awards ceremony stuff... wow, I do not recall any national tournament being that strict: "If you bring inflatable swaps, you will be disqualified. If you do not wear state- relevant attire for the Parade of States, you will be disqualified. If you do not wear business casual to the awards ceremony, you will be disqualified." Seriously, cut them a break!

And then from the FAQ:
"Can we cook in the dorms?" (I'm sure this means microwaving stuff) NO!
"Can we get into homerooms on Friday?" NO!
The same year they add General Rule #5... (although I'm sure there's a reason behind those)

I never thought I would say this, but that's even more strict than Mu Alpha Theta nationals. There, you can be disqualified for stray marks on a test or not sarcastically applauding rookie schools enough (just kidding, but people were extremely rude to our school because it was our first time attending).
Remember, we are proud of every team that participated and you are all winners.

Oy vey, that's harsh.

What do they mean by inflatable swaps, by the way? Do they mean stuff like that giant inflatable whale that Orlando Science brought to States last year?

These seem to be posted in descending order with states with the most teams at the top...

The trial events are posted and the division B events are SumoBots, GPS, Roller Coaster and Sci Bowl. Sumo was a C division event in the past. I am wondering why they give it to B, especially given the limited time. Geocaching was a C event also. The rules still say it's C. Is it a mixup and supposed to be C event or is the sheet just not updated?

As for SumoBots, I assume teams can modify what they have for Robo-Cross, but that leaves only Friday afternoon (...or night) to get it back to Robo-Cross standards...and I've heard enough stories from Robo-Cross to know that it's a recipe for disaster.

As for Geocaching, I'm pretty sure the rules just haven't been updated yet. If I'm not mistaken it has been run as a div b trial at nats before.

They decided to do Sumobots again?

This is going to be interesting... looks like it's still going to have the time problems of what, 4 seasons ago.

Why are the coordinators making the entire teams to do the parade of the states? Usually alternates or team captains participate in this.

"Please see the link to Opening and Awards Ceremonies. 15 team members and one coach will report to the Devaney Center Track at 4:00 p.m. to prepare for the Parade of States that begins at 5:00 p.m. Typically teams wear colorful outfits often themed with something from their state. Teams usually bring a banner from their school and they often carry their state flag. Any display must be appropriate to the event and the audience."
