Don't be afraid to go above and beyond for this event. If the rules have not changed drastically since last time, the event is a lot like Anatomy because there is so much to memorize. Practice every food test on the list (yes, even iodine), and learn about the chemical structures of every lipid, carb, and amino acid that you can. Your coach may flip out a bit because it requires a bit of organic chemistry to understand, but if you can do that in middle school, you're amazing.

Just a word of caution: the rules have CHANGED SIGNIFICANTLY compared to previous years.

Aaaaaaand they did not change the rules one bit since the summer institute.

Looks like we're all going to smell like butter.

Does anyone know why it said there was impound on the draft rules for Food Science? I haven't seen the final rules yet, so I'm not sure if they changed it.

Just to be clear, I was referring to significant changes compared to previous years, not the drafts shown in Summer Institute. However, the rules DO have changes compared to those drafts. Be sure you are looking at the final published versions, not the draft ones from this summer.

The experimental notebooks need to be submitted early in order to give supervisors enough time to review and grade them.
