Just realized I repeated information provided by Bernard about the San Diego clubs. Oops! Maybe the double posting will help publicize those two clubs and their contests.
You could say you've repeated everything in the original post, or I've been updating it with information from the replies here ;)

Does anyone know of freeflight clubs in/around Michigan's region 12 (Ottawa and Kent counties)? Or are they only on the east side?

I have another list of contacts from the following states: California, Connecticut, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington.

It's almost 7 years old so some contacts might not work, but if any are successful, let us know and I can add it to the original post.

We will be hosting a Fly it Day in Dec to help groups with the flight events. If you are new at this event or need help and you are close by, you might want to consider this. Info can be found at: http://www.ezwebsite.org/Page.asp?PID=14404
