freedom flight zeigler packaging tape
freedom flight zeigler packaging tape
We are trying to build the 2016 Wright Stuff model airplane from dave zeigler's freedom flight. We are confused with the directions in paragraph 4 of the building instructions. In particular, regarding the clear packaging tape, what is the purpose of the tape? Also, in the last sentence of the first page, it shows that we must align strips over the diagram, but the strips are too long. Do we need to trim the strips?

Clear packaging tape is normally polypropylene and very few glues will stick to it, so it will allow you to do gluing on the plan.
The tough one to understand is the tape on the leading edge jig. Here again it is to allow you to glue on the plan. I tried to rewrite that portion and could not do any better. The only sticks in the kit that are "too long" are the ones for the leading and trailing edges. they are 12" long for convenience. You have to cut some of it because of the sing dihedral joint. He is not joking when he says to carefully read the entire instructions before starting to build.
