Master-Slave Control System
Where would be a good place to look for resources as to how to start building one of these?

Re: Master-Slave Control System
I honestly believe the best way to learn builds is to look at other people's builds and examples on images gallery and YouTubesamlan16 wrote:Best answer ever.windu34 wrote:YouTube and googleChris_L wrote:Where would be a good place to look for resources as to how to start building one of these?

Re: Master-Slave Control System
I feel like I'm probably missing something really simple here... but how exactly would you put potentiometers into the joints of a master control arm? Our robot arm has 6 joints, so 6 potentiometers, and I'm hoping it will be easier/faster to put them in a master arm rather than just turning them individually by hand

Look for examples online and in the image gallery.watermydoing14 wrote:I feel like I'm probably missing something really simple here... but how exactly would you put potentiometers into the joints of a master control arm? If you go on youtube and search "West Ottawa Science Olmypiad Robot Arm", you will see a great example of the implementation of this device

The instructable for the West Ottawa arm is also quite good.windu34 wrote:Look for examples online and in the image gallery.watermydoing14 wrote:I feel like I'm probably missing something really simple here... but how exactly would you put potentiometers into the joints of a master control arm? Re: Master-Slave Control System
Try modding the 'ARM UNO' or 'Me Arm' if you don't have the resources to make a master arm. Its relatively cheap and perfect for the purpose. Just don't put potentiometers on it, but rather modify the servos by taking our the motor and reconnecting the signal wire so it gives you the potentiometer readout.watermydoing14 wrote:I feel like I'm probably missing something really simple here... but how exactly would you put potentiometers into the joints of a master control arm? Re: Master-Slave Control System
What were some examples of potentiometers people bought? or did most people cannibalize servos for their potentiometers?

It seems to me that it would be easier and cheaper to just buy potentiometers
Ours look like this:

They're about 75 cents each, so it shouldn't be out of any teams budget to buy
