Explain the process by which a subducting oceanic plate forms a chain of felsic volcanoes.

When the overriding plate in a subduction zone is a continental plate, the magmas have to rise through continental crust to reach the surface. In this process, rising mafic magmas often incorporate some continental crust through assimilation. Therefore Magma formed above a subducting plate slowly rise into the overriding crust and finally to the surface forming a volcanic arc.Beneath the volcanic arc intrusive igneous rocks formed from magma that didn't make it all the way to the surface before crystallizing.

Why do mountain ranges have stronger gravity then valleys?

Since force is proportional to mass but inversely proportional to the square of distance, even if the intervening space when being lifted up is completely filled and as dense as the rest of the Earth (neither of which is the case with mountains) the gravitational force would still be lower than at a lower altitude because the distance term in the gravitational equation will overwhelm the mass term.

It would be simultaneously fantastic and terrible if this question was actually worded like this on an actual test. Different parts of me hope that it both was and wasn't.

It wasn't worded exactly like that, actually I went back to the test and know I'm confused. It was the last one from Kraemer invitationals if anyone has that test

I think gravity anomalies can help find which part of tectonics were once connected.
