Supernova remnants are formed when a star dies, and there is a supernova. The SNR is the structure resulting from the explosion of a star in a supernova.

The "Pillars of Creation" in the M16 Eagle Nebula. Why does the Bayer designation of the alpha and beta stars in Orion differ from the order of magnitude?

Because Betelgeuse is a variable star, and occasionally surpasses Rigel in brightness!
