2017 Summer Wiki Drive

Hello, Sciolyers!

We have a page on the wiki called the Needs Work page. On this page you can find all the pages that need work, and this summer we're going to try to get as many of those maintenance statistics to 0 as we can! As the drive goes on, this page will continue to be updated, so you can see how the statistics are doing.

We're going to have several categories that users can be recognized in. We are hoping to announce winners for each of these categories for June (starting with all edits from June 1), July, and August, as well as overall winners. "Volume" in this case means the number of bytes added, as seen on the Recent Changes page (but don't be redundant in your additions to play this up; we will see through it). Edits that result in a net negative change will be considered as +0 for the "highest volume" races. We are not afraid to give out exalted medals through this drive, especially for exceptional contributions.

Categories for possible recognition:
  • Stubs (Highest volume of additions)
  • Incomplete pages (Highest volume of additions)
  • Outdated pages (Highest volume of updates)
  • Dead Ends/Orphaned pages (Most links added).
  • Cleanup Pages (Most lines cleaned up; see this link for what cleanup entails)
  • Needs Work pages (Total tag removals caused; 1 for solo, 0.5 for assist, must be major edit for assist. If you think a tag should be removed, message me or another mod on the forums or chat.)
  • Overall pages (Highest volume overall; user pages will not count for this)
Now, staff will be ineligible for honors, so it's time to recognize new contributors! And keep in mind that normal high-quality contributions will still be considered for exalted medals as well, including any made before the drive started, so if you have a lot of knowledge about a particular topic that isn't on one of these lists, you can still get recognized for your contributions.

Finally, if you are interested in helping (which I hope you are!), I recommend looking at the recent edits by Tesel on the Hovercraft Wiki and by Tesel and Raleway on the [wiki]Chem Lab/Thermodynamics[/wiki]. These are the sorts of contributions we're hoping to get from users like you, who have become experts on these topics!

Any questions about how to edit may be posted here. You may also PM a moderator here on the forums or talk to us on chat.

Happy editing!

Hmmm...alright, I think I'll commit to revamping the hydrogeo page; I don't know if it's ever coming back as an event, but I'll do this anyway! Make sure to hold me accountable for this!

I'm planning on finishing up the Optics LSS section, but if anyone is more experienced with Optics by all means add some as well.

Also, should I fix up the Gas Laws page even though it's not coming back?

Any and all additions are welcomed and appreciated, even if it's not coming back next year. A few years down the line, you never know what information might become useful again.

Hey all, I found a page, the Microbe Mission Diseases List, which is almost completely devoid of any information. I feel like if this page was actually filled with information, it would become somewhat too informative a resource and I feel like it would give some people an advantage. After all, diseases and their information content cover about half of any good Microbe Mission test.

Edit: Oh what the heck, I'll do it.

Too informative a resource? No such thing. (Have you seen the list page for Entomology?)

This is sort of unrelated, but is it possible to center align in the wiki? For example, the equations are all aligned to the left in the Astronomy page, and it impedes readability in my opinion.

I just added a tag to the first equation of the Kepler's third law section that center aligns: https://scioly.org/wiki/index.php/Astro ... _Third_Law
Feel free to copy that tag and align any other equations where you think it would be helpful.

But dang, y'all! It's looking good! Lots of fantastic edits in the past few days. Keep it up!

Edit: and if you have any questions about editing like antoine_ego's question, please feel free to post them in here.
