I might understand how it works...

This is a spring launcher, and the rubber is the spring. It starts relaxed (to follow rules), and is stretched as the mass falls. The whole time, a bow release holds the cart in place so the string attached to the rubber that is pulling on the cart doesn't displace the cart. Finally, when the mass hits its lowest point, it triggers the bow release, releasing the string, allowing it to displace the cart.

I'll make some CAD for this launcher and cart when I have time.
Bernard,

I just made an OpenSCAD model (of the launcher), but I'm not sure if I can attach it here.
Is there a way to do it, or should I paste the code itself into a reply?
(Sorry if that's a stupid question; I just joined yesterday.)

Below the box for replying, there are two tabs, one for attaching files. You'll be able to attach your file if it is under 25 MB.

Bernard,

I think I'm too new for the system to let me attach files.
Here's what the forum permissions look like on my end;

FORUM PERMISSIONS
You can post new topics in this forum
You can reply to topics in this forum
You can edit your posts in this forum
You cannot delete your posts in this forum
You cannot post attachments in this forum

How about I start a new topic, and post the code itself, instead of the file?
(A new topic {instead of this one}, because the code is 80+ lines long)

You can post the code in this topic, it would make most sense for anyone else reading because we already have some context from this conversation here. You not being able to post attachments is my fault, I'll fix it later.

I'm using the 2013.03 OpenSCAD version, but any other version should work.
Press F6 to render, but the color only works when you press F5.
You can download OpenSCAD here: http://www.openscad.org/downloads.html

Great render, that's exactly what I have going on. My download of OpenSCAD is stuck in French; is there a way to change the language?

When I searched Google for "How to change OpenSCAD language" this was the top result.

http://forum.openscad.org/How-to-chage- ... 14604.html

I don't know if this website has a good reputation, but it's worth a try.
