I think it has a lot of potential to become an actual event; it's a great event and pretty easy to run, and teams would do pretty well.

Hey guys! I'm new to indoor bottle rockets, can anyone give me some tips on controlling the height of the rocket? Thanks!

When you test your rocket, if it goes to high, try adding things that might cause drag to try to make the rocket go lower. The key is to test it over and over again.

My friend has a plastic from a painting canvas wrapping, we just made ours out of that.

Probably many WAY better options, but Idk.

There are a lot of parachute calculators on line (here and here). The average weight of a pung-pong ball is about 2.7 grams. You can find the circumference of the parachute you need. You can also play around with the circumference on the second site. Note that the numbers are theoretical. As for the rocket, just take a bottle, put some fins on, and add a cone.

How did you guys put your ball+parachute on/in the rocket in a way that it opens up and doesn't fall off? Thanks!

Our cone is a plastic cup with the bottom cut off, so if you put the ball inside the cone and put you parachute around the cup, it shouldn't fall out upon launching it.
