(2) No
(3) Some proctors will have it taped down (like at nats this year) and of course the proctor will be watching you.
Are you allowed to use tape to tape down templates or paper on the kit? Thanks!
I think so, although I’ve never done that so you’ll have to check on that somewhere.
I would so no, but it depends.

search online for Kaleidoscope mirrors and you'll find lots of suppliers.

We bought from:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2Pcs-50x50mm-G ... 2749.l2649

It took about 2 weeks to get them but they were sized correctly for the event.

What information provided by the supervisor for the laser shoot? Are you told the location and angle of the barrier mirror(s) or do you need to measure them yourself?

Thanks

Typically, none; you will have to measure them (although the ES can provide the information if they wish).

Edit: I have minimal experience with this event, so go with Froggie's response below - though the ES is still not required to provide that info.

They usually tell you the location of the target (i.e. at the 16cm mark) and sometimes stuff about the timer, mirrors, etc.

More Laser Shoot Rule & Scoring Questions

Post by 5uper5tring »

(1) Who is supposed to remove the mirror covers at the end of the lab? The student(s) or the proctor? If the mirror placement is disturb in the process, are the students allowed to re-adjust?
(2) In the 2018 Optics Scoring Sheet, there is a column for "Laser No Wall" to indicate if the Laser strikes a wall of the box. If some of the mirrors are not perfectly vertical or if the laser is not perfectly aligned horizontally (pointing a little too high or low) resulting in the final beam hitting the floor before reaching the back wall or hitting above the backwall, how does that affect the score?

Thanks!
