Does anyone have any knowledge about these topics, or websites I could look to for information?

I'll give you the gist.
Microbial Competition: microbes trying to kill each other with antimicrobials that they produce
Microbial Communication: Quorum sensing, like whythelongface said
Microbiome: Microbes living in certain areas of the human body
Biofilm: A clump of microbes which forms a community
