Hello Science Olympians! We are extremely excited to announce that the University of Chicago will be hosting its inaugural Division C Science Olympiad invitational on January 20, 2018! We hope that this invitational will attract a diverse field of teams from around the country and fulfill the need for a highly-competitive meet sponsored by a university in the Midwest. We look forward to hosting this event for you at the site of the 1999 National Science Olympiad competition and one of the nation’s most prestigious academic institutions, the University of Chicago.

We will be offering all 23 Division C events as well as tests and answer keys following the competition for all teams that participate. The events will be entirely run by University of Chicago students, faculty, and Science Olympiad alumni.

Please follow our Facebook page (facebook.com/uchicagoscio) and/or our website (uchicagoscio.com) as we continue to update these with more details. If you are interested in attending our invitational and would like to receive email updates (including emails with interest surveys), please email [email protected] and we will add you to our mailing list. We look forward to seeing you in January!

Team List

Predictions? I don’t have any yet since I haven’t been following stuff as closely :P but Stevenson, Ladue, Carmel, and Sylvania will be interesting to see

I'm thinking:
1. Stevenson
2. Carmel
3. Ladue

Unfortunately, no one seems to have past IL state scoresheets, so we have no idea how any of the IL teams are. I think St. Ignatius or Sylvania Northview are the next best Ohio teams, though I don't know much about any of the Ohio teams below Westlake and Chardon.

Id later this to predict

1. Stevenson Green
2. Stevenson Gold
3. Carmel
4. Ladue

But between 1 and 2 it’s a tossup so who knows who’ll walk away with the W ;)

Tfw Carmel is the only IN team going bc of the fact that there are two Indiana Division C invites on that same weekend :P

Glenbrook South, Waubonsie, and LT are all very strong as far as the IL non-National folks go.

PSA: My friends at uchicago have posted a Scioly tournament app!

Check out “Uchicago Science Olympiad 2018” on the App Store ti download it.

You can choose your school and then build a custom schedule with your events that tells you the time and location. This works for self scheduled events too. There is also a map in one panel of the app.

It’s super cool and I hope my friend is invited to make an app for the National tournament.
