Interest for a Carmel HS (IN)/Raymond Park MS Invitational

Post by pikachu4919 »

Hi everyone!

There has been quite a bit of pressure/demand for an invitational in central Indiana for the teams in the southern and central parts of the state, as well as the northern part, and some of that pressure has been on Carmel for some time. We have had many arguments in favor of starting one, and we have been discussing the implications for years, but if it was something we'd want to do, we'd have to see how many teams would attend, whether from Indiana or not.

Link to a survey for interest: https://goo.gl/forms/SYLhuktqgEJ7qnB52

If there is enough interest in Division C, we might be able to start one up sometime within the next few years, and if there is also enough Division B interest, there may also be a possibility of teaming up with Raymond Park MS to have the tournament feature both Divisions, not just Division C.

Thanks guys!

I think this could turn out to be a pretty competitive invitational. Carmel is in just the right location to be within driving distance of most of the good Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Kentucky teams, so you could have a lot of competition.

I'm not so sure about Michigan teams. Maybe some in SW Michigan, but even at that, it would be no closer than anything in the Chicago area or the east side of the state. That being said, most of the really good teams in Michigan, being on the east side of the state, stick to invites around there or in Ohio.

How big would this invitational be?

I’d say a pretty decent competitive invite since some schools would choose would come out of state.

The purpose of this survey was to find out how many schools might be interested in coming :o

Understandable yet I inquire as to see if there would be cap as I know some schools prefer to remain under 30 teams when hosting an invite. :geek:

We do not know what the cap would be yet. We first want to see how many teams would be interested in attending before we decide whether to hold one.

Then talk to your coach about it and if they deem it as a good idea, fill out the form expressing interest in the start of it (either you or one of them). Again, this is only likely to happen if enough teams are interested in the opportunity.
